This intense two-day training brings together the fields of Neuroscience and restorative justice to explore issues related to restorative justice practitioners, participants and processes.

Questions explored during the training include:

  • What causes facilitator bias?
  • How can a facilitator maintain emotional grounding during intense RJ interactions?
  • What causes defensive responses in participants?
  • What are scientifically sound strategies for managing defensiveness?
  • How can we support someone who has caused harm to take responsibility?
  • How can healing be supported in those who are harmed?
  • How come a restorative approach may or may not work?
  • What are the key elements any restorative process must address in order to lead to healing for those that caused the harm and those who experienced the harm?
