Community Led Solutions to Crime
Jul 30, 2012
From the event programme:
The criminal justice system is slowly being opened up to public involvement. Community sentencing,victim-led restorative justice, funding for community-led crime reduction initiatives and elected policeofficials are now or soon to be a reality.
This event will bring to the fore new research and thought on whether victims, offenders and thecommunity are getting what they want from the changing criminal justice system and will explore the topicfrom three viewpoints: policing, prosecution and restoration. There will be a particular focus on girls, mental health, minority groups, and restorative justice in the context of street group violence.
With expert practitioners, academics, politicians and civil servants and members of the community puttingforward their research and thoughts in a unique three panel format, the event promises to challenge the status quo and bring forward new evidence-based ideas on how we engage the community in shaping our criminal justice system.
