Sycamore Tree: Victim awareness and restorative justice
From Restorative Justice Consortium's Resolution (Spring 2009): Sycamore Tree is an in-prison programme run over 6 sessions (usually one per week) that aims to challenge prisoners' attitudes to offending behaviour; raise awareness of the impact of crime on victims and communities; and teach the principles and application of Restorative Justice. Sycamore Tree seeks to provide offenders with an opportunity to make an informed choice to change their lives.
Staying the course to continue providing restorative justice
From Lorenn Walker's blog: Restorative Justice for Healing: “We simply have got to stay and keep helping the people touched by these programs,” says Barbara Tudor with passion and zeal. When she says she is “staying” you know she means it. She is a sturdy sixty-ish woman with curly blond short hair and clear blue eyes. Most striking is her abundant energy, which could vie with the most active teenager.
