Memorial plaque to victims of IRA bombing in Warrington is back on Bridge Street
Aug 09, 2012
from the article on This Is Cheshire:
A plaque put up to mark the Warrington bombings has been returned to the River of Life memorial on Bridge Street.
The plaque, which was damaged and stolen earlier in the year, has been recovered and returned.
It forms part of the River of Life which remembers the victims of the IRA bombings in 1993.
As reported previously in the Warrington Guardian, the two men responsible the damage and theft were dealt with through the police’s restorative justice scheme.
….“Those responsible for taking the plaque have been through the restorative justice process, have been held to account for their actions and are now engaged in work to compensate the community.
“I hope this sends a strong message to anyone who thinks it is acceptable to damage or steal items that are an important part of our heritage that this sort of behaviour is not acceptable and positive action will be taken.”
