THe concept of Parallel Justice is rooted in the belief that society has an obligation to provide justice to victims. When a crime has occurred, the social contract has been breached, and true justice requires attention to the needs of those who have suffered, as well as those who violated the law. A just society would seek to heal the wounds that crime has caused, keep victims safe, and empower them to re-engage fully in society. (excerpt)
