Certificate in Restorative Justice

Simon Fraser University will offer a new certificate as a part of its Management and Professional Programs. The Certificate in Restorative Justice will:

  • provide a broad understanding of restorative justice and its applications
  • offer an opportunity to improve decision making and leadership skills around resolving conflict.

The Certificate in Restorative Justice consists of three interrelated courses to be completed sequentially. All course work is delivered online. The certificate can be completed in 12 months with each of the three courses taking place over a thirteen week period.

Becoming a mediator

It is great that you are interesting in facilitating restorative justice meetings! Just about every RJ program provides training for their mediators/facilitators, so a first place to look is there.

Some agencies provide training on an ongoing basis. You can find information about that athttp://restorativejustice.org/[…]/organizations-providing-training.

If you are interested in academic work on restorative justice, you should check out http://restorativejustice.org/[…]/03educational-opportunities.

But if what you want to do is mediate, find a nearby program and see what sort of training it offers!

i would like more information on how i can become a mediator in restorative justice , i am currently a criminal justice major and would like to know if its something i have to finish school first to become or if i can do it at the same time.
