Symposium on Restorative Justice in Campus Conduct Administration

On 15 March 2010, the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University will host a symposium and training event on the implementation of restorative justice in campus conduct administration. Event co-sponsors include James Madison University's Office of Judicial Affairs and Virginia Tech's Center for Violence Prevention and Peace Studies.
The symposium will be held on 15 March with the training following on the 16th through 18th. According to the symposium website, attendees will:
- Explore what works in restorative practices among student conduct issues
- Engage in conversation with leaders in the field: Howard Zehr, David Karp, and others
- Gain strategies to better focus on identifying and repairing harm, including dialogue with harmed parties
- Explore the use of restorative justice with "major threat" cases, including use of RJ options for Behavior Assessment Teams
- Gain skills to facilitate restorative justice dialogues
- Leave with skills and understanding needed to implement restorative justice into existing student conduct and campus judicial systems
