Widening the use of Restorative Justice in the Youth Justice System
Oct 06, 2011
From the event announcement:
The ‘Breaking the Cycle’ Green Paper placed great emphasis on increasing the opportunities to use restorative justice approaches in the criminal justice system, whilst encouraging victim participation, in order to achieve positive outcomes.
These events are being run by the Youth Justice Board (YJB) in partnership with the Restorative Justice Council (RJC) and Victim Support to emphasise our joint commitment to this aim whilst encouraging a multi-agency approach to embedding restorative justice across the Youth Justice System.
Key aims are to:
- Promote widening the use of restorative justice throughout the system, encourage victim participation and ensure the use of restorative justice adheres to standards set by the Restorative Justice Council
- Provide an opportunity for delegates to hear about national developments in restorative justice from the YJB, the RJC and Victim Support.
- Share and consolidate examples of emerging practice in local areas
- Provide a multi-agency forum and networking opportunity to discuss how restorative justice can be widened in your region
