This book contains papers presented at the international conference on “Restorative Justice for Juveniles: Potentialities, Risks and Problems for Research.â€? The conference, held May 12-14, 1997, was organized by the Research Group on Juvenile Criminology of the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. The papers are organized around three major emphases: part 1 addresses principles of restorative justice; part 2 addresses restorative justice in formal settings; and part 3 addresses restorative justice in practice. Contributors include Paul McCold, Jean Trepanier, Martin Wright, Kevin Haines, Rob Allen, Guy Masters, Johan Deklerck and Anouk Depuydt, Wim Schelkens, Robert Mackay, Uberto Gatti and Adolfo Ceretti, Antonio Buonatesta, Serge Charbonneau, Peter Lindstrom and Karin Svanberg, Arthur Hartmann and Michael Kilchling, Mylene Jaccoud, Herbert Sinkinson and John Broderick, Carlo Paliero and Grazia Mannozi, Hilde Geudens, Christian Eliaerts and Els Dumortier and Rachel Vanderhaegen, and Mia Claes. There is a concluding essay by Ezzat Fattah. As an addendum, the book contains the Declaration of Leuven, “On the Advisability of Promoting the Restorative Approach to Juvenile Crime.â€?
