-
Introducing this book of essays, Strang and Braithwaite highlight the purpose in the book of bringing together two vibrant and multifaceted topics of intense discussion, research, and practice: restorative justice and civil society. The authors summarize a number of issues connected with each topic: why restorative justice and civil society engender much interest; reality in relation to hope in both areas; ironies of state and civil society; and principles of restorative justice. At the end of their introduction, Strang and Braithwaite point toward a reframing of the research agenda of restorative justice and the relevance of that research for developing a richer democracy.
