Restorative justice, as opposed to punitive justice, focuses on reconciliation between perpetrator and victim. Several prison programs are implementing the restorative concept. They include inmate/victim meetings to exchange feelings, participation in victim assistance projects and seminars on personal responsibility. In this way, justice becomes part of the healing process.
