In this article the authors identify and discuss several issues at the core of the often strained or antagonistic relationship between victim service programs and victim offender mediation (VOM) programs. They examine misperceptions proponents of each type of program have about the other type of program, and they outline strategies for correcting those misperceptions. The aim is for both victim service providers and VOM providers to learn about each other, respect each other, and promote the services each type of program provides within the community.
