In this address, Tim Newell draws from his experiences as a prison governor in England. He begins by discussing the victim’s voice, the offender’s voice, and the community’s voice. This leads to reflections on spiritual issues within the criminal justice setting – religious needs, values and structures of meaning, relationships, transcendence, affective feeling, and communication. He pays particular attention to issues of repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation as central to the process of healing that can take place with criminal justice procedures.
