Summary

Enright, Robert D and Kittle, Bruce A (2000). Forgiveness in Psychology and Law: The Meeting of Moral Development and Restorative Justice Fordham Urban Law Journal. 27: 1621.

This essay grows out of collaborative work done in the areas of forgiveness and law by the Department of Educational Psychology and the Restorative Justice Project at the Law School in the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Enright and Kittle begin with an overview of a definition of forgiveness and a model of how people can undertake a process of forgiveness. This leads to a discussion of the mediation of a victim-offender conference as an illustration of a case involving forgiveness. From this Enright and Kittle draw out implications for forgiveness within restorative justice.
