In this short essay, Zehr points out where the truth and reconciliation commission of South Africa falls short of the ideals of restorative justice. While recognizing the attempt to concentrate on the stories of individual harm, Zehr says that the time frame and volume of wrongs means that the process can only be incomplete. The same is true for the rapid movement to forgiveness that can lead to incomplete healing. Still, Zehr recognizes the attempt in South Africa as an important step for that country and the world.
