Summary

Colson, Charles and Nolan, Pat (2003). Prescription for Safer Communities Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics & Public Policy. 18: 387-399.

Chuck Colson and Pat Nolan write that, for over three decades, the United States has been unable to reduce the high rate of crime and make communities safer. From personal and professional experience, Colson and Nolan argue that both conservative and liberal perspectives and policies on crime are wrong. If both approaches are wrong, what is the solution to the crime problem? To answer, they look at the growing crisis in the criminal justice system, reasons the current system fails, crime as a moral problem, the effects of religious faith on offenders, and restorative justice in prisons.
