As can be gathered from the title, this article consists of a report by Laura Mirsky on a conference called âBuilding a Global Alliance for Restorative Practices and Family Empowerment,â? the fifth international conference of the International Institute for Restorative Practices. Held in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, in August 2004, the conference gathered participants from many countries around the world to explore and advance restorative practices in criminal justice, schools, child and family welfare, and other spheres.
