Michael Maher is the president of the Church Council on Justice and Corrections (CCJC), a Canadian coalition of faith-based individuals and churches advocating for a more humane way to practice criminal justice. He wrote this article for the Catalyst, the publication of Citizens for Public Justice, of which he is a board member.
