For the past two years Massey High School has been incorporating restorative practices, where appropriate, in response to wrong doing at all levels across the school. These processes have been applied to a wide variety of harming events ranging from ongoing classroom disruption to incidents of serious physical, social and/or emotional harm. This innovative approach allows for the community of people involved to come together to explore the harm and restore relationships. Those affected have a more active involvement in the justice process and those responsible are more accountable to the people they have harmed, thus restoring emotional as well as material losses of victims.
