An alternative to these efforts is focused on alternative “positive peace” efforts. Specifically, I am interested in how a culture of peace can be created in schools based on restorative justice principles, a new and innovative approach to healing the harm resulting from wrongdoing and conflict. Restorative justice is based on the theory, developed by Howard Zehr (2002) that we need to heal the harm that results from wrongdoing and conflict by involving all the stakeholders in a dialogue to collectively identify and address the harms, needs, and obligations necessary for putting things right.(excerpt)
