"The values and principles of restorative justice were described in the first chapter of this book. However, the primary purpose of schools, namely the learning and development of children and young people, is very different from the correctional focus that is central to the legal system. Exploration of these differences would be a valuable project, regrettably one that is beyond the scope of this chapter. Here, I shall simply raise some conceptual issues that arise in approaching the use of restorative principles in schools." (Abstract)
