"This book puts forward new and important ideas. In particular, it advances a vision of a 'restorative society' as an organising principle around which to view responses to conflict within society. Such a concept has many positive features, but also presents several difficulties. This chapter comments briefly on the strengths and weaknesses of the idea of a 'restorative society', identifies some of the lessons and policy issues arising from recent experience with restorative practices in New Zealand, and considers how the ideas and proposals advanced in this volume might be developed further."
