Summary

O'Connell, Terry (1992). "Wagga Wagga Juvenile Cautioning Program: ëIt May Be the Way to Go!" In: L. Atkinson and S.-A. Gerull (eds.), National Conference on Juvenile Justice. Conference Proceedings No. 22, Canberra, AUS: Australian Institute of Criminology, pp. 221-232.

Presents the results of juvenile diversion of the Wagga Wagga model of juvenile cautioning conferences. There was a 75% reduction in the number of juvenile charged in 12 months of the program. The author suggests that the Wagga cautioning program has lead to a decline in the juvenile crime rate. Three case studies of the cautioning conferences are presented.
