Summary

Rohne, Holger-C. (2008). The Israeli - Palestinian conflict and the second intifada - a cycle of violence In Ivo Aertsen, Jana Arsovska, Holger-C. Rohne, Marta Valinas, and Kris Vanspauwen ed., Restoring Justice after Large-scale Violent Conflicts. Devon, UK: Willan Publishing. Pp. 215-228.

"The focus of the following chapters will be mainly set upon violence that occurred during the latest conflict period, the second intifada (also called Al Aqsa intifada) which erupted in September 2000. Since the historical and political complexity of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict makes it difficult to view the different periods of conflict separately, a discussion on violence during the second intifada also needs to be contextualised in the conflict's history and its burdensome legacy of previous decades. Therefore, some benchmarks of the conflict-riddled history are outlined below." (abstract)
