This article describes an evaluation of a victim-offender mediation program in Minneapolis. Pre- and postmediation interviews were conducted with 96 victims and 81 juvenile offenders, including 2 comparison groups matched on offender offense, gender, age, and race. Mediation participants experiences both the outcome and process as fair and were generally satisfied. Offenders participating in mediation had higher restitution compliance and lower recidivism rates. Victims participating in mediation had lower fear and anxiety than either comparison group.
