Restorative justice has been seen by the key criminal justice agencies in Canada as a natural extension of the Aboriginal Justice Initiative launched in 1991. Consequently, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) adopted the philosophy of restorative justice. It implemented this approach the Community Justice Forum (CJF). This is an executive summary of an evaluation of the RCMP initiative. The evaluation looked primarily at the training component of the CJFs and the effectiveness of CJFs as viewed by participants and facilitators.
