Marquette University Law School Kicks Off Restorative Justice Initiative.

In 2004, the Marquette University Law School augmented its Dispute Resolution Programme by creating a restorative justice initiative. This new programme seeks to "serve as a resource for victims, communities, and restorative justice organizations, as a restorative justice clinical experience for law students, and as a program promoting scholarship, research, and dialogue on restorative justice." Kyle Leighton, a programme assistant for the initiative, and Janine Geske, Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice and Distinguished Professor of Law, offer a description of the Restorative Justice Initiative and the inaugural events.

Waging Peace in Nicaragua.

In the 1980s, a small group of pastors decided to work toward ending the civil war engulfing their country. Since that time, the work of these peace commissions has adapted as the needs of their local communities changes. This includes providing reintegration services for ex-combatants in the post-war period and their current work of resolving conflicts and responding to crime. The remaining peace commissioners are now looking to restorative justice theory to inform their work. Tracey King, a student in the Conflict Transformation Programme at Eastern Mennonite University, provides an overview of the work undertaken by the peace commissions since their inception.

A Charter for Practitioners of Restorative Justice.

During 2002 and 2003, a group of restorative justice practitioners in British Columbia, Canada, compiled a practice guide. The Charter has been published on-line by the Centre for Restorative Justice at Simon Fraser University. Meredith Egan, Coordinator of the Centre, provides this description of the Charter.
