The Church Council on Justice and Corrections (CCJC) is a Canadian coalition of faith-based individuals and churches advocating for a more humane way to practice criminal justice. Rick Prashaw is the communications coordinator for the CCJC. He attended the Alternatives to Boot Camps conference in 1996, where he gave this presentation. In it he shared stories and insights from the CCJC’s research into credible alternatives to custody in Canada and other countries. The focus was to identify safe community options that attempt to repair the harm from youth crime and reduce the use or length of imprisonment for young offenders.
