Restorative Justice Bringing Justice and Community Together

Storey Hall, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia, 14 May 2008
Sponsored by the Victorian Association for Restorative justice. There will be a number of concurrent “streams” in the program including research and practice, legal systems, and schools led by experts in their respective fields. Workshops and presentations on the new Neighbourhood Justice Centre (Collingwood), restorative practice and indigenous communities and schools and therapeutic jurisprudence are just some of the topics that will be included.

The conference will draw upon national and international research and practice to look at the principles underlying family-centred solutions, the evidence on whether such approaches work in enabling more children to live safely within their families, and if so, why. The conference will examine different models of family-led practice including FGCs and will enable policy makers, managers and practitioners to consider ways to develop sustainable practices to meet children and their families’ needs.
