Shelter Advocate, Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis. USA.

 This position works as part of a team of shelter advocates to develop a service plan to actively support families' transition from homelessness to stable living. Primary functions includes:   

  • Welcoming new participants and developing positive and engaged working relationships with the families.
  • Creation of a client directed Family Action Plan that proactively engages residents in program participation.
  • Assess an work to eliminate barriers to stable housing.
  • Involvement in weekly case review to share progress updates and problem solve with the team on solutions toany challenges impacting the families’ stability.
  • In partnership with Housing First advocate, manage resident files with all necessary case notes and forms.
  • Follow program guidelines for safety in community living (physical safety, safety of sobriety, emotional safety and safety of children).
  • Participate in conflict resolution, restorative justice and success planning with residents for issues that put their Family Service Center program stay at risk.
  • Keep statistics for program outcomes and monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
  • Log entries into shared program journal
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance

Assistant Professor, Felician College, Loden, NJ, USA

Felician College, the Franciscan College of NJ, is re-opening the search for a doctorally prepared dual specialist in Criminal Justice and Sociology for appointment at the rank of assistant professor. Successful candidate will have:

  • An interest in and commitment to the ideals of Catholic higher education within the Franciscan tradition.
  • Broad expertise in the social sciences.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses at all levels of the sociology and criminal justice curriculum, including Felician's mission-based Culture and Diversity course, which emphasizes global awareness and sensitivity to diversity in the service of peacemaking.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach criminal justice courses with a restorative justice mindset.
  • An interest in mentoring career-related student practicum.


Candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand, at time of application, from a regionally accredited institution and be willing to teach in Felician's growing on-site and off-site criminal justice programs. Experience in course preparation in Introductory Police, Criminal Law, Criminal Investigation, and Constitutional Law, as well as Special Topics courses, would be an asset.
