Administrative Responsibilities:
- Reviews, implements, interprets, and/or disseminates division-wide, institutional, MnSCU, and legislative policies and procedures.
- Works closely with WSU administration, the WSU Office of Legal Services and the Office of the Attorney General for statutory and policy clarification.
- Provides procedural safeguards to protect the rights of individual students and the legitimate interests of the university, including the maintenance of files complying with federal and state legislation such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the MN Governmental Data Practices Act (MGDPA).
- Insures provision of students' due process rights and serves as the appeals officer for conduct cases, including appeals in Housing and Residence Life.
- Coordinates all student conduct processes at WSU and manages the student conduct database and compilation of statistics, yearly reports and, in consultation with the Director of Security, crime statistics.
- Responsible for compliance with U.
- S. Dept. of Education's Drug-Free Schools and Campus Act including the preparation of the federally mandated Biennial Review.
- Works collaboratively with the Director of Student Conduct & Citizenship to provides leadership in developing creative educational and restorative justice sanctions.
- Assists in developing department-wide and program specific assessment and evaluation, recommending and/or implementing changes and effective solutions.
- Contacts and makes referrals for students reporting sexual harassment, sexual assault, discrimination and/or abuse.
- Educates the WSU and Winona communities regarding the role of the Dean of Students.
