Adriana Barbosa Sócrates is a psychologist working with restorative practices in Brazil.
During her graduate studies in psychology, Adriana directed her studies toward healthcare and hospitals and the humanization of relationships in this setting. After graduation, she worked as a psychologist in the Programa de Proteção a Vítimas e Testemunhas Ameaçadas (Programme for Protection of Victims and Threatened Witnesses), emphasizing the need for social reintegration of these individuals.

In the Restorative Justice Pilot Project of the Special Courts of the Núcleo Bandeirante, DF, Brazil, Adriana worked on the implementation of these practices as a different mechanism for resolving conflict.

Adriana concluded her post-graduate studies by applying pshychoanalytical theory to these experiences with restorative practices. From this work, she is convinced that humanization is a way of achieving peace.

Important Idea:

In restorative justice, I perceive a possibility for the resolution of conflicts through a dialogue that permits the parties involved in the conflict to extend their perceptions and motivations and utilize them in understanding the consequences of the conflict and the possible restoration of relationships.
