Lisa Rea
Lisa Rea advocates criminal justice reform to include forgiveness and reconciliation.
She is president of the California-based Justice & Reconciliation Project (JRP). This national non-profit organization seeks to restore the lives of those harmed by crime by advocating for criminal justice reforms promoting forgiveness and reconciliation between crime victims and offenders.
From 1992-97, Lisa served as the California director of Justice Fellowship, the criminal justice reform branch of Prison Fellowship Ministries. Following her service with Justice Fellowship, she consulted with Prison Fellowship International on several justice-related projects, including work testing the first Sycamore Tree Project®, a model restorative justice program involving victims and offenders, inside Jester II state prison in Texas.
In addition to her work as a restorative justice specialist, Lisa has 20 years experience in government relations, specializing in legislative advocacy, grassroots organizing, coalition building, and media relations. She has worked inside the California Legislature as a staff person to several legislators, lobbied on behalf of a wide variety of public and private organizations, and served on the staffs of numerous state ballot initiative campaigns.
Important Idea:
Justice and Reconciliation Project is currently working to establish intensive in-prison projects in California that promote reconciliation and healing between crime victims and offenders.
Leading Edge. JRP seeks to raise up a new victims-led voice in support of restorative justice policies and to provide a forum for victims who have experienced reconciliation to tell their stories.
